Job Shadowing

picture used for our facebook, twitter,
and newsletter

For my job shadow I followed Mrs. Jenny Ross who is the owner of the company Grateful Bags. Grateful bags are purses that have snap on monograms that can be fitted on to any of the purse's. To start off the day, we went to her warehouse where she stores all the bags that are waiting to be delivered. I assisted in packaging the bags, putting stickers on monograms and overall organization of the warehouse. I helped wrap the bags to prepare them for delivery. We loaded everything into her car, made a few local deliveries, and then went back to her house to work on the website. Mrs. Jenny showed me the behind the scenes of her site and how it works. She wanted me to help her write a newsletter that would tell her subscribers about the sale going on for Velvet Harper clutches. They were being endorsed by a celebrity and we had a special code to make sure her audience knew about. I came up with the wording for the newsletter and we got over 10 orders within the first hour. We also put the same thing on the Facebook and Twitter account. While she taught me a lot, I also got to show her a few new tech tricks that she didn't know about. We then dropped the boxes off at the post office to be delivered across the United States. Finally we had lunch at Tyler's Tavern in beaver creek. She was kind enough to buy me lunch which I was very appreciative for.
While we were at lunch she showed me her fabric color book. She asked me to choose the colors that she should produce for spring and for which bag. I ended up choosing a taupe color for the Abbey, a rose gold color for the Harper, and a light blue grey for the Izzy. All of these colors looked great with her most popular monogram colors. After or great lunch we went to see where the monograms are cut. The acrylic monograms are cut at 5 star awards using laser cutters. We watched a few be cut which was very interesting to watch. Finally we added the new monograms to some purses and delivered those as well. Sadly then the 6 hours were finished and I went to school for drivers ed.
